Holy Land Sapphire

The first Holy Land Sapphire was found by Shefa in Israel in the beginning of the new millennium (2000). High gem-quality Sapphire originated from the Holy Land are VERY RARE. As of today, less than 700 Carats where discovered.

Sapphire is a precious gem, a variety of the mineral corundum, consisting of aluminium oxide (α-Al2O3) with trace amounts of elements such as iron, titanium, chromium, copper, or magnesium. It is typically blue, but natural “fancy” sapphires also occur in yellow, purple, orange, and green colors. The only color that sapphire cannot be is red – as red colored corundum is called ruby, another corundum variety. Pink colored corundum may be either classified as ruby or sapphire depending on locale.

Commonly, natural sapphires are cut and polished into gemstones and worn in jewelry. sapphires have a remarkable hardness of ‘9 on the Mohs scale’ (the third hardest mineral, after diamond at 10 and moissanite at 9.5)
